Hedgerow & Herb Series – Apothecary Salve Making with Nat – Thursday 1st August 2 pm – 6 pm

"Come and join us as we learn to make a botanical bug bite salve using a blend of traditional & modern methods, with our resident Hedgewitch"

Nat of Lily & Tonks will be sharing her passion for herbs and plants and their therapeutic properties & uses too!
Nat also supports me here at Harwes with developing our administration & logistics processes.

We have been discussing some sort of herbal, hedgerow, making workshop for some time, and here it is at last! I asked Nat to get a date in the diary and I kid you not, she consulted the phases of the moon before checking her availability! Enough said!

Bit of background….

Following on from a varied career in professional photography, live event logistics, complementary therapies and more recently developing her own holistic natural skincare & hedgewitchery lifestyle brand: Lily & Tonks, Nat has been putting some of her heritage around all things botanical and apothecary to good use!
You can find out more about Nat & her slow offgrid lifestyle on Facebook:

A note from Nat:
"Salve making is an ancient art, with evidence of it's use as far back as the Ancient Egyptians and beyond. Often passed down from generation to generation of apothecaries, hedgewitchs, medicine men & women; gathered from garden & fields and made in cottages & home kitchens rather than factories & labs. In the modern age, salve making is a niche heritage skill in danger of being forgotten & lost. Yet it is also a useful practical skill that once learnt, can empower you and your loved ones. It is knowledge worth saving & sharing."

What to expect

Nat will expertly guide you through the process of making a simple botanical salve, a skill that once learnt can be forever adapted and built upon.
She will discuss useful plants from both the hedgerow & garden, their therapeutic properties, how to identify & prepare them, traditional & modern salve making ingredients & techniques, and most importantly guide you through step by step as you make your own botanical salve. At the end of the workshop you will have created your own bug bite salve to take home.

Salve making the traditional way takes time (weeks!), so to ensure you get the most out of this info packed workshop; Nat will have already foraged, harvested, dried and prepared all of the necessary ingredients for this workshop in advance. Whilst the main focus of this workshop will be the actual process of making salves safely & effectively, she will be also guide and show us how to do all the pre-prep ourselves. There will of course be plenty of time for your questions along the way too.

This event does carry a minimal sign up cost to fund materials & tools to create your salve to take home! Otherwise this event is sponsored by The National Lottery Heritage Fund @TNLHeritageFund https://www.heritagefund.org.uk/
