Community Allotment

Welcome to Our Community Allotment Area

Our community allotment at Harwes Farm CIC is a vibrant testament to the power of community spirit and collaboration. The journey began with visiting school groups who helped lay the initial groundwork. During the lockdowns, Kirsty and Porter, stranded in the holiday cottage at Harwes Farm, took on the challenge of developing the allotment further. Their dedication and hard work transformed the area into a flourishing garden, creating a strong foundation for future growth.

Today, our allotment is expertly managed by Claire, our Volunteer and Allotment Coordinator. Under her capable guidance, what started as a few simple beds has blossomed into a thriving community garden. The allotment now features a large polytunnel, a wildlife pond, and a diverse array of planting areas, showcasing a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

One of the highlights of our community allotment is the regular community cook-offs. These events are a wonderful opportunity for everyone involved to come together, share the harvest, and cook delicious meals in our farm kitchen. It’s a joyous occasion where we celebrate the fruits of our labour, exchange recipes, and enjoy the camaraderie that comes from working and cooking together. The produce we grow is often shared among those who have contributed, ensuring everyone benefits from the bounty of our collective efforts.

Our allotment is more than just a place to grow vegetables; it’s a space where community members come together to learn, share, and connect with nature. It’s a living example of what can be achieved when people unite towards a common goal. We invite you to visit, experience the thriving community spirit, and perhaps even get involved in this rewarding endeavour. Join us and be a part of our growing family at Harwes Farm CIC.
